Why are there so many models of insulated pipe supports?

The load rating of each support is often dependent upon how the support is mounted (flat surface, roller, clevis hanger). Heavy valve loads, wind loads, and/or thermal loads may have to be accommodated. Provision for axial and/or lateral travel, due to thermal growth, may have to be made. The pipe may require guiding or restraint. Supports mounted on 10′-0 centers do not require the load carrying capability that is required by supports on 40′-0 centers. These and other considerations resulted in the creation of a family of insulated pipe supports enabling the customer to select the most economic unit sufficient for the purpose intended.
