Is there any reason to consider insulated pipe supports on chilled water lines?

Old-style sheet metal insulation “protection” shields, when used with today’s low density fiberglass insulation, often damages the very insulation and vapor barrier they are supposed to protect when the shield moves in relation to a clevis hanger, becomes unbalanced, and cuts through both the vapor barrier and the insulation. An insulated pipe support provides the best protection against condensation/sweating problems and enhances the life of the insulation system.
